Pinless Ligno-Scanner SDM with Dual-Depth

Versatile, practical, rugged, economical: Dual-Depth - the new approach to scanning.

The Ligno-Scanner SDM clearly outperforms most pinless meters on the market today. The meter gives species-corrected moisture readings in percent for wood and bamboo (flat and vertical grain and strand). In addition, the SDM provides two selectable measuring depths for thicker and thinner boards. The 1/4" depth works great on stacked veneers, engineered floors and whenever the surface moisture has to be measured. If measurements are taken at 1/4" and 3/4" depth, surface versus core moisture can be compared without using the slide hammer electrode.

A scale to evaluate moisture in concrete and sheetrock is also available.  Reference scales are available for materials similar to wood, vinyl, textile, concrete, drywall and other building materials.

Specifications for Ligno-Scanner SDM

The measuring depth of a pinless meter is crucial. Moisture readings are too low, when the Scanner is placed on a work piece which is thinner than the measuring depth. Scanners never measure any deeper than the measuring depth.

The entire measuring pad has to be on a flat and smooth surface for accurate readings

*Species Corrections for Ligno-Scanner SDM correlate directly to the Specific Gravity. Example: For a specific gravity of 0.57 (0.57g/cm3) set species # 57. Specific Gravity for most wood species can be found on the Internet. We also include a Species Chart with recommended settings. Ligno-Scanner SDM has different reference scales for groups of materials, similar materials should be measured with the corresponding scale.

Measuring range: 5.4-61% dependent upon Species. Resolution of read-out: 0.1% Less accurate above Fiber Saturation Point at 30%.

Wood temperature correction is not necessary.

1 9-V Battery for 3000 Readings, Battery included.

Size: 1/2"H x 2"L x 5"W  (for Scanner LD width is 2 7/8")      Weight: 8 ozs

Comes in a Carry Pouch with Belt Loop.

We suggest buying a pin meter first for its greater versatility and accuracy. As a second meter we suggest a pinless meter.
